walkable city is a healthy city---mmda
ang EDSA ay hindi walkable kaya hindi siya siguro healthy--howie severino.
i've just watched howie severino's document on edsa entitled: biyaheng edsa. it hi-lighted the past and present of edsa, the life that lives within its vicinities, the people that walked around it and most of all the history that EDSA is known for.
from monumento to munoz, he and his crew walked for about 3 hours 'till they reached the mrt station and dropped off at GMA station then further walked. From rugby boys, to dispute among civilians and police about kotong, and the plight of the poor who are living on the streets, it were all captured.
as he reached cubao, he was able to interview a metro aid who was a witness to the past EDSA's, and if given a chance she will march again since no change has really occured; she is still not being paid properly after her 30 years of service and her nearing retirement she is still not sure if she has a pension.
howie then got nearer kampo krame and reminisced about the time he was kept there. he then saw the man he was visiting after his release from krame, a fellow journalist but in form of poetry.
... i'm getting a wee bit sleepy now since it's almost 2 am. i'm just used with having no classes.
the documentation showed a lot of things, coincidentally howie was shooting this just last friday, february 24, 2006, so he saw the demonstrator rally to EDSA and then dispersed, but he continued to walk to makati and all the way to manila.
...it was a nice documentation, it was very informative and i liked the cinematography... i really like i-witness..hehehehehe
MY OUTPUT...
from what i've learned the similarities would be that it is (1) done in EDSA (2) cardinal sin, cory, fvr, and the afp supported it (3) a government was overthrown (4) a woman president again(5) no real change happened and the difference i've spotted were: (1) EDSA 1 was ignited by the message of Cardinal Sin in radio while EDSA 2 was with the text because of the second envelope not being opened (2) there were no army tanks (3)the second EDSA was immediately followed by another EDSA #3
